Well the superbowl is tomorrow and for some reason the hype isn't all what i expected it to be, honestly. For some reason i expected the streets to be flooded with people from out of town and celebs from across the country. I heard on a tlak radio show on thursday that resturants were not getting the high volume of bussiness that the expected and that hotels in the area were still had rooms available. The highlighy anticipated super bowl in Tampa Bay is not living up to the hype in my opinions.
Why is this? Does the economy affect football also? well obviously it does due to the cutting back the NFL has done in jobs around the league for the fact that 3/4 of the teams in the league aren't making enough ticket sales. Teams this year have even faced the fear of their games being blacked out because there wasnt' enough ticket sales to air the game. But, this is not the only reason why. It is true that the cheapest ticket is running for close to 15 hundred and some over a quarter mil, way out the range for the avearage NFL fan, but it's also becasue of the Arizona Cardinals.
Lets be honest, Arizona is just not one of the most marketable teams in the NFL and the fact that they even made it to the super bowl is a bit of an underdog story. Yes they have potential hal of famer Kurt Warner and two dynamic recievers with Bolden and Fitzgerald, but they are the obvious underdog and dont carry a big enough fan base for this to be an amazing super bowl. Sorry Cardinal fans but its been 61 years since you last made it to the Bowl and probably another 60 before you make it again. Good luck on Sunday but the Stealers are walking away champions again.

popping the cherry
For those who weren’t fortunate enough to catch Monday night’s showdown between the two tyrants of their divisions, you missed a good one. Let me start of by confessing that whenever I mention Kobe Bryant and Lebron James in the same conversation I tend to be a little bias.
With both players leading their conference in the race to the playoffs, Lakers 31-8 in the west and Cavs 33-8 in the east, you can say that this was a battle for who is better. Well if not for you, then for me at least.
Not even two minuets into the game, Bryant swipes for the basketball in James’s hands and ends up dislocating his ring finger on his right hand (a similar injury to the torn ligaments he suffered with in his pinky finger last season) but surprisingly played the rest of the game despite the pain and finished with 20 pts 12 assist and 6 rebounds to beat that Cavs 105-88.
Where was the great Lebron when this was going down? You guessed it, guarding the great Kobe Bryant in the fourth quarter and allowing him to take over the game and make circus shots. Lebron shot a 9-25 and had 6 turnovers. Yes he’s great but tonight was not his night. On the upside for Lebron fans, he is still up when it comes to match ups vs. the Lakers 6-4 since he has been drafted. But Monday night goes to Kobe.
This probably doesn’t suit the criteria of a great first blog but that was just a bit of information that I wanted to share before too much time passed and basically it became irrelevant. So thank you for bearing with me and reading through it.
Well this semester you can expect a few more blogs that look similar to this one. I plan on talking about sports a lot, especially when I find myself with writers block and fresh out of ideas. This is officially my first blog, blog experience, blogging community etc so it might take some getting used to as far as keeping up with post and what not, but, so far so good. I want to take this class and this opportunity to really develop a voice and style of writing and use this blogging style and format as a way to better develop my thoughts, and regurgitate then literally more coherently. Well that’s my goal, lets see how good I do at living up to it.
As far as what to expect to be reading, I have decided to Marginalize my thoughts and keep it between music, entertainment, the Lakers (sports), the news and every once in a while I will step outside the box and attempt to jot down my personal thoughts. Key word in that last sentence? Attempt. Well that’s a brief wrap up of what Marginal thoughts is about and if you have any questions or comments feel free to leave them.
